BREWER, Maine — Bail was set at $5,000 cash Friday for a Bangor woman suspected of robbing a local convenience store on Monday.

Meagan Herbert, 23, was arrested on Tuesday by Bangor police, Detective Sgt. Anthony Pinette of the Brewer Police Department said Wednesday.

She is being held at the Penobscot County Jail on a Class A felony charge of robbery, along with trafficking in Schedule W drugs, a Class B felony, the sergeant said.

Herbert allegedly walked into the Big Apple store on Wilson Street around 7 a.m. Monday, demanded cash from a clerk and fled the scene, Pinette said. No weapon was used in the robbery.

Pinette said Bangor police Sgt. Bob Bishop and Officers Jamie Fanning and Derek Laflin assisted Brewer police with the arrest.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and charges against people who may have assisted Herbert are anticipated, Pinette said.

Herbert is scheduled to appear at the Penobscot Judicial Center for a dispositional conference on Aug. 8, according to spokeswoman for the Penobscot County district attorney’s office.
