BANGOR, Maine — Hank Williams Jr. is the latest act to be announced as part of the summer concert season at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion on the Bangor Waterfront.

Waterfront Concerts announced Tuesday that Williams will play Saturday, Aug. 3, with ticket prices starting at $27.75 for general admission, or $37.75, $47.75, $57.75 and $67.75 for reserved seating, plus any applicable fees depending on purchase outlet.

The only son of country legend Hank Williams, who transformed country music, Williams Jr., now 64, has 20 gold albums, six platinum albums — one of which has sold more than five million copies — and 13 chart-topping albums under his belt.

In 1989, Williams’ manager arranged a deal with ABC’s Monday Night Football to have the country star rework “All My Rowdy Friends are Coming Over Tonight” into a theme song to be performed before each Monday night game. Two years later, the Monday Night theme won the first of four straight Emmy Awards, and Williams remained the performance voice of Monday Night Football.

His most recent album, Old School New Rules, was released in 2012. And even those who aren’t country music fans likely have heard Williams’ “Country Boy Can Survive,” “Born to Boogie,” and “My Name is Bocephus.”

Tickets for the Bangor concert will go on sale Friday, June 14, and are available purchase locally at Mark’s Music store at Penobscot Square in Brewer, by phone at 800-745-3000, online at or at all Ticketmaster outlets.
