KENNEBUNK, Maine — Residents of a Summer Street apartment building were displaced Sunday evening after a driver crashed into the home’s porch.

Police said Gary Muslow, 59, of Kennebunkport was traveling west on Summer Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. when he experienced a medical problem that caused him to drive off the road. Muslow’s 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee rode over shrubbery at 10 Summer St. and drove between two trees, sideswiping one of them before striking the porch at 8 Summer St., said police Lt. Tony Bean Burpee.

Muslow was taken by Kennebunk Fire Rescue to Southern Maine Medical Center for an evaluation, Bean Burpee said.

Residents were temporarily relocated for the night, said Bean Burpee, who added that he believes the code enforcement officer will view the property today to make a determination on its structural suitability.

This is the third crash in the same area of Summer Street within the past year. One occurred during inclement weather with snow and slush when the operator drove off the roadway, and the second was due to a distracted driver who took his eyes of the road to pick up his cellphone, Bean Burpee said.
