By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BREWER, Maine — A 43-year-old Brewer man was arrested Thursday afternoon after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend, police said.

Frederick Platt, 43, is facing a Class D misdemeanor charge of domestic violence assault, according to Brewer police Capt. Chris Martin.

Shortly after noon Thursday, Brewer police received a call from staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where a woman was being treated for a minor injury that she said stemmed from having been assaulted, Martin said. The assault allegedly occurred earlier Thursday morning.

Officers went to Platt’s home and an investigation resulted in his being taken into custody.

Police brought him to Penobscot County Jail, Martin said. Platt has since been released on bail.
