BANGOR, Maine — Police are investigating a burglary in which a valuable painting was stolen from a Hammond Street residence.

Bangor police Sgt. Wade Betters said police were called to the scene around 7 p.m. Thursday. The homeowner was not present at the time.

Betters said Friday the homeowner arrived home to discover a painting worth about $2,800 had been stolen.

“I think it was a painting an older family member had done,” Betters said.

Police reported no signs of forced entry to the house, Betters said, noting that doors may have been unlocked.

Betters said officers don’t have a suspect description. Anyone with knowledge of the incident should contact Bangor police at 947-7384.
