Party to kickoff Walk to End Alzheimer’s


BANGOR — The Alzheimer’s Association invites Eastern Maine area residents to participate in the association’s Eastern Maine Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Oct. 5th, 2013 at the Hollywood Casino Raceway at Bass Park in Bangor.

Volunteer committee members and event participants will kick off the Eastern Maine Walk with a party 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 6, at Geaghan’s on Thursday, June 6. the public is encouraged to attend the party to learn more and register for the  upcoming event.

Funds raised will provide care and  support services for people in Maine living with Alzheimer’s, while also contributing to advancing critically-needed research.

Last year, more than 600 people participated in the Eastern Maine Walk to End Alzheimer’s, raising more than $86,000. This year the goal is to raise over $100,000 with even more participants.

“As the number of individuals living with Alzheimer’s escalates, there has never been a greater need for the citizens of Maine to join in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease by participating in Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Kristie Miner, an  Alzheimer’s Association volunteer and co-chairwoman of the Walk.
