BREWER, Maine — A free individual golf membership will be on the line as part of the festivities during an open house at Pine Hill Golf Club from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

The golf membership will be the prize for the winner of a putting contest, according to Jason Brooks. He is the club’s co-manager along with fiancee Katie LaChance.

Each putting contest participant will get five tries to sink a putt. At 12:45 p.m., everyone who has accomplished the feat will be involved in a putt-off for the prize.

There will also be a chipping contest for door prizes including T-shirts, sleeves of balls and more.

“And there will be free hot dogs, soda and chips, while supply lasts,” said Brooks.

Also, in honor of Armed Forces Day, “all active and retired military personnel can play 18 holes for $10,” said Brooks.

There will be an all-day closest-to-the-pin contest, too. The winner will get a free golf bag, courtesy of Pepsi. There is no fee to enter that contest either.
