Bangor man accused of possession of knife, oxycodone

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — Police arrested a 19-year-old Bangor man on multiple charges Monday afternoon after discovering he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Officers responding to an unrelated report happened to encounter Carson Stimus on Cedar Street, according to Bangor police Sgt. Rob Angelo. Stimus initially provided officers with a false name, but when he revealed his identity, police learned he was wanted on a warrant for his arrest.

Angelo would not comment on the nature of the warrant.

When police were patting Stimus down, a small knife, marijuana, an oxycodone pill and $1,500 cash were found in his possession, Angelo said.

Stimus was taken into custody and charged with possession of a Schedule W drug and trafficking in dangerous knives in addition to the warrant, Angelo said.

He was taken to Penobscot County Jail and later released on bail.

In December, police charged Stimus with leaving the scene of an accident in connection with a hit-and-run at the corner of Webster Avenue and Crestmont Road, according to BDN archives.
