NORTHPORT, Maine — Police said that a local man who went into a jealous rage over the weekend and assaulted both his girlfriend and a male friend he found with her is still in jail.
Daniel Armstrong, 34, of Northport had gone to his Bog Road home Saturday and was angered when he found another man already there, according to Lt. Jason Trundy of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
“He felt like they were being too friendly,” Trundy said Wednesday.
Armstrong first assaulted the other man, “trouncing him,” Trundy said, and after that person left the residence he turned his attention to his partner. When the woman wanted to call police to report the attack on the other man, Armstrong allegedly took the phone and wouldn’t let her have it. He choked and hit the woman, smashed a chair and threatened to “blow her head off,” Trundy said.
Although there were firearms in the home, none were used during the altercation.
Another person called police to report the domestic dispute, and three deputies went to the home. They arrested Armstrong and charged him with domestic violence assault, violation of conditions of release from a previous offense, criminal mischief, domestic violence terrorizing and obstructing the report of injury or crime.
Armstrong was taken to Waldo County Jail in Belfast to be booked. On Wednesday, he was being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset. His bail was set at $2,500 cash, according to a jail official.
