AUGUSTA, Maine — Central Maine Power announced Tuesday it has concluded work on a project that included the installation of a new transformer and additional equipment at its Pleasant Hill Substation in Scarborough.

The substation provides power to more than 15,000 homes and businesses in Scarborough, South Portland and Cape Elizabeth.

Spokeswoman Gail Rice said the completion of the project will improve the reliability of the grid serving the homes in businesses in the three cities.

The power company is investing nearly $430 million in 2013 to build a stronger, smarter grid statewide, CMP president Sara Burns said. printed on August 23, 2017
