Two Maine employers semifinalists for Freedom Award

ARLINGTON, Va. — Two Maine employers have been named semifinalists for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.

The semifinalists are Kennebec Behavioral Health in Waterville and the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, based in Augusta.

The Freedom Award winners will be announced in May, with a review board consisting of military and civilian leaders narrowing the field down.

The Freedom Award recognizes employers that provide extraordinary support to their National Guard and Reserve employees. The two Maine employers are among 138 semifinalists and 2,899 employers nominated by guard members across the country.

Up to 15 award recipients will be announced this summer, with an honorees ceremony in Washington, D.C., in September.
