ROCKPORT, Maine — Rockport has hired Waldoboro’s planning and development director to take the similar position for its town.

Waldoboro Planning and Development Director Bill Najpauer submitted his resignation Monday to the town manager. His resignation is effective May 14.

Najpauer has worked in Waldoboro for about a year and a half. He has offered to attend Waldoboro’s May 21 public hearing to address a proposed community development grant application and proposed zoning changes.

Najpauer will succeed Tom Ford in Rockport.

Ford, who will retire in May, has served as planning and community development director in Rockport for nearly 13 years.
