Orono man arrested after allegedly punching ex-girlfriend

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

ORONO, Maine — An Orono man who went to his ex-girlfriend’s house Saturday night when he had nowhere to stay was arrested after being accused of punching the woman, police said.

Cory Rolfe, 21, is facing a charge of domestic violence assault, Orono police Sgt. Scott Lajoie said Monday.

Lajoie said he did not know what prompted the argument between the pair. Rolfe allegedly punched the woman twice in the stomach with a closed fist.

Shortly after the altercation, the woman’s roommate returned home and the two women and Rolfe left and went to the Bear Brew pub, Lajoie said.

After leaving the nightclub, the trio went to another friend’s apartment, where the woman who was allegedly struck called police, Lajoie said.

Officer Chris Watson responded and arrested Rolfe. He was transported to Penobscot County Jail and released on bail.
