ORONO, Maine — An Old Town man who was arrested in February after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend was arrested again Saturday for violating his bail conditions, police said.
Bradley Taggett, 37, who was arrested by Bangor police on the initial complaint Feb. 13, is being held at the Penobscot County Jail, Orono police Sgt. Scott Lajoie said Monday.
The woman had gone to a friend’s house on Saturday night, and the friend, concerned for the woman’s well-being, decided to contact police, according to Lajoie.
Taggett, who had been staying at a motel in Orono, apparently left the motel Saturday and went to see the woman, the sergeant said. His bail conditions prohibited him from having any contact with her, Lajoie said.
The pair went to University Park near the University of Maine campus and an argument ensued, and when Taggett went to a nearby fast-food restaurant to eat, the woman went to her friend’s house, Lajoie explained.
The woman had been dating Taggett since September 2012, said Lajoie.
After police were called Saturday evening, the woman was given a safe place to stay for the night while Taggett was placed under arrest and charged with violating conditions of release, the sergeant said.
