Fire destroys trailer in Farmington

By Ann Bryant, Sun Journal

FARMINGTON, Maine — A Farmington woman lost her home Tuesday morning when fire broke out in her Sandy River Trailer Park home.

Firefighters responded to a 7:16 a.m. report of smoke and visible flame at the home of Debra Ingram on Tuesday morning, Farmington Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Clyde Ross said at the scene.

Ingram was not at home. She was at work and left the home at about 9:15 p.m. Monday night, he said.

After arriving at the scene, Ingram tearfully said her two cats and a dog were in the home.

A neighbor, Rick Elkins, said the animals were everything to her. She had moved into the trailer after another trailer at the end of the park received water damage, he said.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Mutual aid from New Vineyard, Strong, Temple, New Sharon, Jay and Wilton helped members of Farmington Fire and Rescue contain the fire.

The scene was cleared by 8:35 a.m. The trailer park is located off Route 4 north of the Fairbanks Bridge.
