GLENBURN, Maine — A Milo man escaped serious injury early Tuesday morning when his sport utility vehicle struck a tree on Route 15, police said.
Kevin Ricker, 18, was driving into Bangor for work around 8 a.m. when he apparently dozed off and lost control of his Jeep Liberty, according to Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Saucier.
Saucier said he’s not sure why Ricker dozed off. Ricker was the lone occupant in the vehicle, the deputy said.
The impact caused Ricker’s vehicle to roll over, and he suffered only cuts and bruises, the deputy said. The fact Ricker was wearing his seat belt prevented more serious injury.
“The impact from the tree probably would’ve ejected him,” Saucier said.
Ricker was treated by paramedics at the scene but did not require a trip to the hospital, Saucier said. Ricker’s Jeep was demolished in the crash.
