4,373 lose electricity in Penobscot, Piscataquis counties

MILO, Maine — An equipment failure cut electrical service to 4,373 Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. customers in northern Penobscot and Piscataquis counties for about an hour on Friday, a company spokeswoman said.

The outage was reported at about 1:30 p.m. and affected customers in Alton, Brownville, Milo, Medford and surrounding towns. Electricity was restored at about 2:30 p.m., said Susan Faloon, a company spokeswoman.

Customers may report outages or ask questions by calling the company’s customer service center at 1-800-440-1111.
