Police searching for missing Lewiston man

LEWISTON, Maine — Police are searching for a Lewiston man whose car was found abandoned on the Veterans Memorial Bridge between Lewiston and Auburn over the weekend.

WMTW-TV is reporting that Daniel Dougherty, 46, has been missing since Friday.

According to the report, Lewiston police said that Doughty, of Knox Street, seemed depressed when he spoke to a friend at 11 p.m. Friday. His wallet and identification were found in the car and a jacket was found nearby in the woods.

A plane from the Maine Warden Service joined police in searching for Doughty near the Androscoggin River.
