Beloved public radio program “ A Prairie Home Companion” last visited Bangor in 2008, and five years later it will roll into town once again. Garrison Keillor and company will offer a special non-broadcast performance at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion on Saturday, July 27. Tickets for the performance are $27.75 to $57.75, and are available online at waterfrontconcerts.com, at all Tickermaster outlets, by calling 1-800-745-3000 and locally at Mark’s Music in Brewer.

On Monday, July 8, “A Prairie Home Companion” kicks off the Radio Romance Tour 2013, a 26-city, 27-concert, 30-day, coast-to-coast bus tour that will run from Washington state to Maine. Starring host and writer Garrison Keillor, comedian Fred Newman, Richard Dworsky and the Guy’s All-Star Shoe Band with guitarist Pat Donohue and violinist/mandolinist Richard Kriehn, these nonbroadcast shows offer more than two hours of music, absurd improv with sound effects, Guy Noir Private Eye, poetry, outright foolishness, and the latest News from Lake Wobegon. The Bangor performance will feature singer/fiddler Sara Watkins singing duets with Keillor.
