CARIBOU – Hazel A. Hersey, 85, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013 at a Caribou nursing facility after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Caribou, the daughter of Theodore and Jenny (Little) Patterson.
She attended Caribou Schools and worked for a time at Birdseye Foods in Caribou. She had been a resident of Mars Hill Nursing Home, Eagle Lake Nursing Home, Borderview Nursing Home, Van Buren, Highview Manor, Madawaska, Limestone Manor, and most recently Caribou Nursing Home.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Perley A. Hersey in 1989; one son, Daniel “Sonny” Hersey; one brother, Robert Patterson; one sister, Olive Everett. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Elwood “Bucky” and Nancy Hersey of Anthony, Fla., Lloyd and Doris Hersey of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters and son-in-law, Rhoda Hersey of Ashboro, S.C., Evelina and Albert Farley of Caribou; one brother and sister-in-law, Theodore “Howard” II and Lula Patterson of Limestone; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. The funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, from the chapel of Mockler Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Heald officiating.
