CAMDEN, Maine — Fire destroyed a Lily Pond Drive home Tuesday afternoon.

There were no injuries, according to Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley. He said the owners were away when the fire was reported shortly before 2 p.m. The pets were with the family at the time of the fire, he said.

The house at 25 Lily Pond Drive is owned by David and Leslie Vangel, according to the town’s tax records. The 5,640-square-foot, two-story house was valued at $702,000.

Fire departments from Rockport, Lincolnville and Hope assisted Camden in battling the fire.

An investigator from the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene because of the amount of damage, Farley said.

Farley said he did not yet know the cause of the fire. Crews remained on the scene after 4 p.m.
