BANGOR, Maine — Police are looking for a man who Thursday night used a handgun to assault, or pistol-whip, another man and rob him of a backpack, Bangor police Lt. Tim Reid said in a Friday statement.
The 27-year-old “victim was struck several times with the handgun,” the lieutenant said. “The victim received head injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. A backpack containing undisclosed items was taken from the victim.”
Police were called to the area of 166 Ohio St. at about 10:50 p.m. Thursday and found witnesses, a blood trail on the sidewalk as well as the handgun used in the assault and left behind.
The man beaten with the gun was taken to the Eastern Maine Medical Center by a friend and told police he did not know the man who attacked him.
Police are looking for a white male with a brown jacket in the armed robbery.
