PARIS, Maine — A Dixfield man pleaded guilty Tuesday for his part in making counterfeit $50 bills last year.

Nicholas Dunham, 22, pleaded guilty in Oxford County Superior Court to one count of aggravated forgery. He received one year of probation, a $500 fine and 100 hours of community service.

According to Assistant District Attorney Richard Beauchesne, last July a cashier at the Citgo station in Mexico was suspicious of a bill and called the police. The investigation led them to Dunham’s ex-girlfriend, Randi Theriault, who Beauchesne said was also involved in the operation.

Dunham was sentenced to one year, all suspended, as well as the probation, fine and service.

Theriault’s case was continued to later this month.
