When you hear a plane overhead, do you ever stop and watch it, wondering if it’s heading to an exotic destination for a fantastic adventure? You could be on one of those planes soon.
Eastern Area Agency on Aging will host a slide show presentation at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, for those interested in learning about a trip to England, Scotland and Wales on a British Landscapes tour Oct. 10-19, or a trip to Portugal and its islands Nov. 1-13. Hear all about these exciting trips and see breathtaking photos of each locale, brought to you by Collette vacations.
The British Landscape tour will have you practicing your English accent in no time. The 10-day journey through England, Scotland and Wales will have you sleeping in a historic castle, visiting the university town of Cambridge and soaking up the pastoral landscapes of the Cotswolds. Walk in the footsteps of William Shakespeare. Experience the wonder of Stonehenge. Stroll through historic York.
You’ll also visit the scenic Lake District, view the Crown Jewels of Scotland and bask in the culture in an overnight stay at an actual castle located in the north of Wales.
Perhaps Portugal appeals to you. On this trip, the Collette promises you will discover the beauty of Portugal’s Riviera with visits to Sintra, Cascais and Estoril and experience an entertaining evening featuring Portuguese cuisine, local wine, folkloric dances and the moving sounds of Fado music. You’ll spend four nights exploring St. Michael, the “green island” and largest of the Azorean Islands, along with exploring the island of Madeira, known as the Pearl of the Atlantic. You’ll also visit unique tea and pineapple plantations.
Both of these trips are once in a lifetime but whether you’re interested in taking the tour or just curious about the destinations and would like to experience the slideshow, you are welcome to attend the presentation. Let us take you away for a little while and get winter out of your head.
For those who wish to take this journey, there are special transportation accommodations. Travelers may park their cars at Eastern’s parking lot and take a chartered bus to Logan International Airport in Boston. No more worrying about getting a ride or where to park the car. It will be safe and sound right here plus you will be riding with your traveling companions.
“We are excited to be partnering again with Collette Vacations and to be able to bring these opportunities to the community,” said Noelle Merrill, executive director at Eastern Area Agency on Aging, who has been on these tours herself. “The trips are well planned and very enjoyable and foster a real camaraderie among the travelers. It’s great to have everything taken care of and the price, which includes one or two meals a day, is reasonable.”
These tours are also a critical fundraiser for EAAA, which receives a percentage of the price on tours booked through them.
“In this economic climate as funds dwindle but the need for services increases, we try to find creative ways to raise money to continue the work we do,” said Merrill.
Even those who may be unsure about traveling so far are more than welcome to come to the slideshow, she added. “The pictures are so beautiful and worth seeing and we want everyone to have a chance to see the two countries and take advantage of this opportunity if possible.”
Join us at Eastern Area Agency on Aging on March 26 to experience the presentation that will whisk you away to Ireland and provide you with a sure cure for the winter doldrums.
If possible, RSVP by Friday, March 22, so we have enough refreshments. Call EAAA at 800-432-7812 to reserve your space. All are welcome.
