OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — Three Old Orchard Beach residents are facing charges after an Old Salt Road apartment was raided last week and crack cocaine was discovered there, police said Friday.
James Ross, 50, Tania Margate, 39, and Peter Guarino, 45, are all facing a charge of possession of a Schedule W drug, Old Orchard police Sgt. Gerard Hamilton said.
The raid took place on March 1, Hamilton said. Both Ross and Margate had bail conditions not to possess drugs, the sergeant added.
Police had been tipped off to possible drug activity occurring at the apartment throughout the month of February, Hamilton said.
Guarino had left the apartment before police executed a search warrant, Hamilton said, but he was pulled over by police and a search of his vehicle turned up crack cocaine and marijuana.
Guarino and Ross were arrested while Margate was summoned, Hamilton said. Ross also had warrants for drug trafficking and operating a vehicle as a habitual offender. Guarino was also charged with marijuana possession and Margate with two counts of violating of condition of release.
The sergeant did not disclose the amount of drugs found in the apartment. Ross remains at the York County Jail; Guarino was released on bail.
All three suspects are scheduled to appear in court April 24.
