NEWRY, Maine — More than 100 military service members, veterans and their families will spend Sunday on the slopes of Sunday River ski resort for free, bonding and working to “heal the invisible wounds of war,” according to a program spokeswoman.

The Feb. 24 event is sponsored by Massachusetts General Hospital’s Home Base Program, which is geared toward helping families and military personnel cope with post traumatic stress and brain injuries, as well as providing clinical care and community education, according to Home Base representative Catherine Moore.

The event is by invitation only, and is not open to the public.
