PRESQUE ISLE – Velva Paradis Fenton McRae, 89, found her way home Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. Velva was born Feb. 19, 1923, in Perham, the daughter of Mary Fenton Lee and William Thomas Fenton Jr.
Velva is survived by her sisters, Charlene Stevens of Sarasota, Fla., and Florence Fenton of Brewer; her brother, Robert L. Fenton of Escondido, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Velva was predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Milton McRae; brothers, William T. Fenton Jr. and Clarence C. Fenton; nephew, Clarence C. Fenton Jr.; and nieces, Victoria Quinn and Bella Ryan.
Velva graduated from Jonesport High School and worked in Portland for five years before moving to Presque Isle to work for Bell Atlantic Telephone Co., where she was employed for 20 years and made many lifelong friends. Velva and her husband enjoyed many winters at their Florida home near Ocala. She was always close to her Lord and gave thanks every day for all the goodness in her life. She loved spreading the news of God’s blessings. The family would like to thank her caregivers for their kindness and compassion: her primary caregivers, Conrad McGrath and Karen McGrath, and also the wonderful nursing staff at Leisure Village.
There will be no memorial service. Interment will be in the spring beside her husband at Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements by Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
