FAIRFIELD, Maine — Two men were taken to hospitals Thursday morning after their pickup trucks collided on Route 201, according to police.

Daniel Dickey of Madison was southbound in his Toyota Tacoma when he allegedly crossed the centerline and struck a northbound Ford F-150 driven by Justin Merry of New Hampshire about two miles north of the I-95 interchange, Fairfield police Sgt. Paul St. Amand said.

The men’s ages weren’t available.

St. Amand said the call came in just after 5 a.m., and neither driver was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Both drivers had to be extricated from their trucks, the sergeant said. Fairfield and Waterville Rescue, along with state police, assisted Fairfield police at the scene.

Both drivers suffered injuries that were serious but not life threatening, St. Amand said. Dickey was transported to Redington-Fairview hospital in Skowhegan and Merry to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

The crash remains under investigation, the sergeant said.
