Mayo Regional Hospital to add Corinth medical practice

By Whit Richardson, BDN Staff

CORINTH, Maine — Mayo Regional Hospital will acquire a medical practice in Corinth, the hospital announced Monday.

The Dover-Foxcroft hospital has been in negotiations for a month with Bangor-based Sunbury Medical Associates for the purchase of Corinth Family Medicine, according to Tom Lizotte, a spokesman for Mayo Regional Hospital. No purchase price was announced.

Currently, Bangor-based Sunbury Medical Associates operates medical practices in Bangor, Brewer, Hampden, Orono, Hermon and Winterport.

The practice currently has three physicians. Drs. Thomas Hayward, Anette Poulin and Craig Hardy, according to Sunbury’s website.

The sale is expected to close March 8, Lizotte said. It will include the 5,100-square-foot building at 492 Main St. in Corinth, which has 10 examination rooms, five offices and laboratory space.

Once the purchase is complete, Mayo intends to bring in two physicians, Drs. Bryan Lundquist and Karen Godin, to run the office, Lizotte said.

Lizotte said negotiations are under way between Mayo and Corinth Family Medicine’s current staff, but referred further personnel questions to Sunbury CEO David Savell. A call to Savell’s office had not been returned as of Tuesday afternoon.
