Transient facing multiple charges after wandering around EMMC grounds

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A local transient wound up going to jail early Friday morning after giving staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center difficulty, police said.

Joshua Hoover, 32, who was not at the facility for medical treatment, had been kicking doors in the hospital lobby and even urinated on a floor, Bangor police Lt. Steve Hunt said.

Hoover was escorted off the property by police just before 4 a.m., given a criminal trespass warning and told not to return, Hunt said.

The suspect did not heed officers’ warnings, however, as he pulled a fire alarm box in the hospital parking garage, prompting police to return, Hunt said.

Hoover was found quickly and taken to Penobscot County Jail without incident. He is facing charges of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and false public alarm, Hunt said. Hoover remained at the jail Friday afternoon.
