Police say they have no suspects in Portland death

PORTLAND, Maine — Police continue to investigate the case of a woman found dead in a motel parking lot last week.

Lt. Scott Pelletier said Wednesday morning the case remains open and police do not have any suspects.

“That’s where we’re at now,” he said. “We haven’t ruled anybody out. It’s still ongoing.”

The body of Margarita “Rita” Fisenko Scott, 29, of Westbrook was found in an SUV in the parking lot of the Motel 6 on Jan. 17. Police have ruled her death a homicide.

Pelletier said police are not yet releasing the cause of Scott’s death. Officers on Monday searched a Portland apartment she was believed to be staying at during December.

“We’re trying to establish a timeline for people who have seen her,” Pelletier said.
