BRUNSWICK, Maine — PeaceWorks, an activist organization based in Brunswick, is offering a stipended position to coordinate its annual Peace Fair in August, an event which organizers say is growing and increasing its focus.

Rosalie Tyler Paul of PeaceWorks said funding is in place for the coordinator to work 10 hours a month in March and April, followed by 10 hours a week from May until Aug. 3, which is when the Peace Fair is scheduled. This is the second year that PeaceWorks, which is supported mostly by private donations, has sought a coordinator for the Peace Fair.

This year, for the first time, the fair will follow a common theme: “The Children Ask the World of Us.” Paul said the event will explore numerous issues around that topic.

“We see it as part of the work of raising awareness and creating a new story that honors and rewards cooperation; sharing of the Earth’s resources; caring for the needs of people around the world and ensuring farsighted concern for the planet,” said Paul.
