WESTBROOK, Maine — A local man has been accused of sexually assaulting a child Sunday night and is facing felony charges, according to police.

Police received a complaint from a woman at a Brackett Street residence just before 7 p.m., Westbrook police Capt. Michael Nugent said Monday.

The woman alleged that Joseph G. Pooler, 18, had touched her young child inappropriately, according to Nugent. The captain did not disclose the child’s name, age or gender.

Pooler was arrested without incident, Nugent said.

Pooler was booked into the Cumberland County Jail on charges of gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual touching, Nugent said.

Pooler is being held on $10,000 bail.
