FARMINGTON, Maine — A former Lewiston and Franklin County man was indicted Wednesday in connection to assaulting a Franklin County jail corrections officer on Oct. 26, 2012.

Jonathan Nurse, 38, who is an inmate at the Somerset County Jail in Madison on an unrelated assault charge, was indicted on a felony charge of assault on an officer.

Nurse is accused of hitting the officer in the face with his hand while at the jail.

The inmate was maced by a corrections officer and put in a cell, Franklin County Sheriff Lt. Niles Yeaton said in October. Yeaton and Detective David St. Laurent assisted the officer.

The corrections officer, who had marks on her neck and had blood on her ear, drove herself to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington to be checked out and returned to work, Yeaton said.
