VAN BUREN – Henry J. Sirois, 92, died Jan. 3, 2013, at a Van Buren health care facility. He was born Aug. 12, 1920, in Hamlin, the son of Levite and Catherine (Cormier) Sirois.
He attended local schools and was a 1940 graduate of Van Buren Boys School and also attended St. Mary’s College, Van Buren. Henry was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 49, Van Buren. He worked as a mechanic at the former Loring Air Force Base for many years. He was a member of Van Buren Fire Department for many years, serving as assistant chief for several years.
He is survived by three sons, Donald Sirois of Van Buren, James Sirois of South Berwick and Ken Sirois of Presque Isle; a foster son, Richard St. Amant of Melrose, Mass.; two daughters, Kathleen Marquis of Van Buren and Lisa Laplante of Wiscasset; one brother, Leo Sirois of Millinocket; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna (Cyr) Sirois, in 2008; four brothers, Lionel, Come, Rosaire and Emmanuel Sirois; and four sisters, Martha Bouchard, Jeannette Sirois, Lucille Carbonneau and Geraldine Morris.
Relatives and friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
