Knox County to update public on airport master plan

OWLS HEAD, Maine — An engineering firm hired by Knox County will offer an update on the master plan for the airport.

The public informational meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 14 at 4 p.m. at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. The public can pose questions or offer comments at the session.

The Knox County Regional Airport is updating the 2000 Airport Master Plan as required by the Federal Aviation Administration, airport Manager Jeffrey Northgraves noted in a news release issued Wednesday. The process is overseen by the Public Relations/ Environment Subcommittee of the Airport‘s Public Advisory Committee.

Two large public meetings are also planned for October 2013 and February 2014, according to the news release.

Stantec — a national engineering firm that has served the airport for many years and overseen various projects including the new terminal, taxiway and environmental studies — will present a comprehensive schedule of tasks that satisfy FAA requirements and integrate realistic airport needs with its community and environment, the release states.
