    “We have done what the people have asked us to do” This should have being done all along. In today’s economic climate you can not continue in the same old ways. So the hard choices are on the table and they need to be addressed and not kicked down the road. I have seen some people blame the paper company for not stepping forward and helping. They did step forward they are still there and they are providing jobs.

      They did not step forward. They extended out there hand requesting a tax abatement and they got it. That’s why the school needs the drastic budget cut — because the mill asked for a handout. That’s fact.

      They are not “providing” jobs. The mill needs workers to accomplish its tasks. Requiring workers isn’t a favor to the town. The mill has a duty to the community to pay taxes just like the rest of us do. They’re skirting their responsibility and these kids are going to suffer for it.
