Sandra L. Severance

CALAIS – Sandra Louise Severance, 77, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, in Calais, with her family by her side. Sandra was born Jan. 16, 1935, in Calais, daughter of the late Ivan and Alice (Cody) Murphy.
She graduated from Calais Academy and soon after married Neil F. Severance, Dec. 26, 1954, in Calais. After traveling for a few years due to Neil’s job, she started working for A&P, Calais, where she was employed for 16 years. Sandra then became a clerk for the Irving convenience store and worked there for another 16 years. Her most cherished moments were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Neil F. Severance, in 1999; three sisters, Rita Graffman , Eileen Burnette, and Connie Smith; and one brother, Francis Murphy. Surviving are her two children, Larry Severance and wife, Linda, of Calais, and Debra DelMonaco of Augusta; four grandchildren, Joshua DelMonaco and wife, Caroline, of Bangor, Erika Lebel and husband, Mike, of Eddington, Chad Moreside and wife, Jami, of Calais, and Benjamin DelMonaco and companion, Ashley Billups, of Hermon; four great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Madison and Kassidy Lebel, and Jaxson Moreside; one sister, Francina Pelletier of Calais; two sisters-in-law, Rita Severance and Irene Hunnewell; two brothers-in-law, Merl Smith and Elwin Severance; special friends, Sharon and Ella Robinson; and many special nieces and nephews. The family thanks the staff of Washington Place, Calais, for their excellent care.
Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Calais, with Father James Plourde, celebrant. Burial will be after at Calais Cemetery.
