DOVER, N.H. — A routine traffic stop by state police on Route 16 on Friday resulted in the arrest of a Dover man wanted as the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force’s “Fugitive of the Week.”

Doni Dale Thompson, 33, had been on parole as part of his conviction and sentence for first-degree assault and was wanted on an outstanding parole violation issued by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections on Nov. 5 in connection with that charge.

During the search, Thompson was considered armed and dangerous by officials and was known to have ties with associates and family in the Dover area and throughout the southern region of the New Hampshire.

He is also facing additional charges in Kittery, Maine, stemming from an incident that occurred on Dec. 20. The Kittery Police Department has sought and received arrest warrants for Thompson alleging aggravated assault and kidnapping based on that incident.

Thompson was arrested and transported to the Strafford County Jail for processing and holding and will be transferred to the state prison in Concord.

His broadcast as “fugitive of the week” on several local stations, and publication through various newspapers as well as the Internet raised awareness of his description, which included distinctive tattoos and other identifiable markings.
