LIMERICK, Maine — York County sheriff’s deputies nabbed a Grinch on Wednesday who allegedly stole a giving tree from a local supermarket on Saturday.

Maj. Bill King said the giving tree at Limerick Supermarket, a fully decorated Christmas tree with tags from needy people who can’t afford gifts, was taken from the store over the weekend.

“This had been a long-standing tradition at the Limerick Supermarket,” King said.

Police launched an investigation and Noah Paul Reynolds, 24, of Limerick, was arrested and charged with theft, according to King.

Reynolds was brought to the York County Jail. Bail information wasn’t immediately available.
