BANGOR, Maine — Police will begin shutting down streets in downtown Bangor at 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, for the Festival of Lights Parade.
Main Street will be closed from Railroad Street to the intersection with Hammond Street. Downtown sections of Harlow, State, Exchange and Central streets also will be closed, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards.
Motorists crossing the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge from Brewer to Bangor will be directed to Washington Street, as the intersection of Main and Union streets will be closed.
No parking will be allowed downtown on Main Street, Harlow Street or Exchange Street after 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
The parade is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m., turning from Railroad Street onto Main Street. The route continues down Main Street, State Street and Harlow Street before disbanding on Exchange Street.
The parade is expected to last about two hours, immediately followed by the tree-lighting ceremony in West Market Square.
