BDN staff reports

MADISON, Maine — A fire that began in a back bedroom destroyed most of a mobile home Friday night, according to fire officials.

The bedroom where the fire originated was completely destroyed in the blaze, and the rest of the interior of the home at 4 Oak St. had extensive smoke damage, Madison Fire Chief Roger Lightbody told the Morning Sentinel.

Lightbody said he thinks the home is beyond repair.

Three children and two adults were home at the time of the fire, but were not injured. The family lost three or four cats, according to Lightbody.

The name of the homeowners wasn’t immediately available.

The fire was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday, the Morning Sentinel reports.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
