VEAZIE, Maine — A Veazie convenience store was held up at gunpoint Sunday evening, and police said they are searching for the robbers.
Police Chief Mark Leonard said a frantic phone call from the owner of the Veazie Mini Mart on U.S. Route 2 came in around 8 p.m., stating she had been robbed by two men.
Leonard said the men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, entered the store and demanded money from the owner.
One of the robbers, a white man dressed in black, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register while his accomplice, another white man wearing a black and white flannel shirt, light-colored jeans and a gray sweatshirt, took an undisclosed amount of additional store cash from the owner, Leonard explained.
The men were captured on video surveillance, and Leonard said he hopes that helps in identifying them.
The chief said the men escaped down Mount Hope Avenue toward Bangor, but it’s unclear what type of vehicle they were driving, he said.
Veazie police are investigating the robbery, and anyone with information on the incident should call 947-2358.
