EAST MILLINOCKET – Margaret Arlene (Stewart) Cottle, 89, passed away Nov. 15, 2012, at a Lincoln hospital after a brief illness. Margaret was born March 30, 1923, in Danforth, the daughter of the late Maurice Stewart and Marion (Schillinger) Stewart Veysey.
She grew up in Danforth and graduated from Danforth High School in 1940. She married Fletcher Cottle, May 23, 1942, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage until his death, Aug. 21, 2007. Margaret and Fletcher moved in 1958 to East Millinocket, where she continued her role as homemaker and mother of two daughters. Margaret was a faithful communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where she worked on many fundraisers and sang in the church choir. In later years she filled her days with crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading and playing the piano.
She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie J. Fraser and her husband, Stephen, of Medway and Tammy L. Cottle of Stratham, N.H.; and three sisters-in-law, Joyce Veysey, Norma Cottle and Donna Cottle. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Darrell Veysey and Merle Stewart; and three sisters, Jeannette Simpson, Cecilia Farrell and Mame London.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr presiding. Interment will be at East Millinocket Cemetery. There will be a gathering at the parish hall after the committal service.
