HAMPDEN — Two thrilling one-goal games highlighted the 18th Maine Soccer Coaches Annual Senior Bowl held Sunday at Hampden Academy.
In the boys’ game, the West defeated the East 6-5 with the winning goal scored in the final 12 seconds off a corner kick.
That goal was scored by Tristin Richards of Greenville, with the assist coming from Tyler Defosse of Windham. Other scorers for the West were J.P. White of Falmouth, who scored two goals, while Henry Hersey of Greenville, Grant Burfeind of Falmouth, and Eddie Stewart of Richmond each scored one.
Scorers for the East were Lorenzo Milani of Mount View, who scored two, and Cooper Antone of Hampden Academy, Gabe Smith of Winslow, and Jeremy Miller of Bangor Christian, each scoring one. Maks Grover of Ellsworth assisted on the Smith goal.
The three goalkeepers who attended the game played for both teams. They were John Burns of Kennebunk, Austin Bean of Searsport, and Sam Shepard of Hall-Dale.
In the girls game, the East defeated the West 3-2. Goal scorers for the East squad were Grace MacLean of Bangor, who scored two, and Max McHugh of Central, who scored an unassisted goal in the first half. The goal scorers for the West were Cassie Darrow of Falmouth and Kayla Swasey of York.
Goalkeepers for the East were Lex Jimenex of Lewiston, Marina Cameron of Houlton, Kristin Thompson of Schenck, and Rayah Saucier of Washburn. The West goalkeepers were Caton Beaulieu of Greely, Caroline Lucas of Falmouth, Natasha Deroche of Dirigo, and Taylor Blood of Mattanawcook Academy.
