10 years each seems about right. Not fit to walk free with the rest of us.

Bad news.  This story is under or not reported in most towns small towns in Maine (& yes, pretty much everywhere else as well.)   An unfortunate fact of life. Small town justice?  Maybe  a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. These animals got away w/it for too long.  Can only hope that there is indeed some justice coming their way when they run into a bigger bully w/in prison.

is this the case of people getting beat up because they bought booze instead of drugs with other peoples money? why try to make howland sound like NYC over this? mountains and molehills, maybe…

    • Anonymous

That’s what I was just saying.  It was a drug money-related attack-not a random act of violence.  Now people are afraid to go out at night?  I don’t get it.

  • Anonymous

It’s going to take a community watch ‘plan’ to resolve this issue.  This is a rural area and police
are stretched thin.  $12,000 in additional patrols is nothing.    Glad they are more present but peer/neighbor pressure is needed.   Report the little SOBs if they are breaking the law.  Send the message that they will not get away with it.   You make them sound like a bunch of thugs that have taken over the town.

  • Anonymous

The problem is the punishments today never fit the crimes!  There are way too many known repeat drug dealers, child molesters, rapist, murderers and scum bags that have been released and wandering the streets in Maine and through out the country.  The bleeding hearts who release these scum bags back into society and call them rehabilitated need to be held accountable for there actions after released!

Until judges and DAs grow backbones, and until parents stay married and sober and actually raise their offspring, Maine will continue to drown in violent crime.  It’s a hick state whose logo should be a pit bull with a cigarette hanging out of  its mouth.

    • Anonymous

jdtex, I’m not sure that I’ve ever “liked” any comment you’ve posted and I’m so sad to say that this one is spot on.

    • Anonymous

      That’s a good one.

And Texas’s logo should have a butt with a cross hanging out of it.

    • Christian McKinnon

wow really you have no idea how loveing these people really are

      • Admin Person

Kick your teeth in loving?? You’re barking up the wrong tree.

      • Anonymous

        and your serious? lmao

        • mommyoftwo

           Givrsum,

You have to consider, he is a relative of the 2 brothers!! :)  Of course he would say that they are loving!!!  They have taught him well!! Unfortunately, sad but true!!

    • Anonymous

Are you serious? Maine is not “drowning in violence”. I’m so tired of people acting like Maine is a terrible place. Yet I see you trolling the BDN just waiting to put people down. I know stories like this seem bad but not when you compare it to the rest of the country. It’s true that there are more drug related crimes now but nothing compared to other places. I used to live in Killeen TX, there was more crime in that one town than the entire state of Maine. “Stay Married and sober? Ever been to Mississippi? It’s not a problem with Maine, not the States fault, or the governments, it’s a humanity problem. Maine still has the lowest crime rate and is rated as the #6 best state to live in America. A smart man once said: “You know why the world looks like crap? Cause you walk around with your head up your rectum.”

well as long as your not buying yourself beer with your buddy’s drug money,, the howland streets are still pretty darn safe. lol.

  • Christian McKinnon

these are my uncles and i would hate for them to go away yes they did wrong but i mean come on show some love

    • Admin Person

Are you kidding?? They deserve about 15 years in jail. Their parents should have left them in jail.

    • go have them pick some potatoes

    • mommyoftwo

HAHAHA!!  Good little grasshopper!! :)  Pathetic!!!!!

    • hav ya read the story about maine highest sex attacks in the prisons. they
are going to hav some loving times in jail

    • Anonymous

      They are cowards and losers.
Just remember you choose your friends and not your relatives.

    • Anonymous

They should of thought of that then, it’s about time we make examples of these so called tough guys. Yes, bring them to me. Never mind the judge!

    • Anonymous

christian they may be your uncles and i’m sure they can also be loving. but they committed a horrible act of violence and need to be punished for it. 2 people were nearly beaten to death, so they showed no love there. i understand you feel bad because they are related to you and it’s hard to see someone you love in trouble but they chose their own paths. if it was one of them that was nearly beaten to death you would have a different opinion. don’t get on here and read all these posts because it will drive you crazy. just chose a different path than your uncles did. stay away from drugs and anyone involved in them. and hope that once they do their time they change their lives as well

    Alcohol , the gateway drug.

  • i have traveled and live in many parts of the country. the worst communities to live in are communities with alot of minorities  and communities with alot of irish.  yes irish, here is a question, name the only white ghetto in new england? south boston. majority  irish

    • Anonymous

      Kiss my Irish arse

      • keep reading maine crimes. watch how often the criminals
        have irish surnames

        • Anonymous

Irish surnames are common in United States because of the huge historical Irish immigration and it doesn’t make people who have those names Irish

    • Anonymous

Maybe you just don’t know how to cook a potato?  The Irish helped build this coutry,  and then you had cooks….

      • in 190o, the majority of criminals in the usa were  irish people ,
police wagons that carried prisoners got nicknamed ‘paddy wagons’
paddy because the wagons was always filled with irish

        • Anonymous

I think your mistaken.  While it maybe true that there were some “Irish criminals”  back 1900,  we have to understand why.  The Irish moved here mostly because of the potato famine of the mid 1700s.  They came here with absolutely nothing,  and got to work building rail lines and such.  Very low wage.  Then the Civil War,  and with that the draft.  If you were a wealthy Englishmen,  you could pay $300.00, and be spared the horrors of the civil war.  The Irish didn’t like this.  They felt everyone should fight,  rich and poor.  So they protested, (rioted), against this travesty.  So many were beaten and indeed jailed,  making them your criminal.  It was around this time, (1863) the term “paddy wagon was coined.

Yeah well going on your brilliant stereotype- then ALL German people are evil (WWI and WWII), ALL religious people are evil (all of the killings that have occured in the name of religion), ALL Italians are evil (mafia), ALL men are evil (they commit far more violent crimes than females), etc….as all of these are ridiculous stereotypes.  Clearly being a chef requires little education or knowledge (other than chopping and boiling things) of how the world works.  What a sad uneducated joke you are….now go watch a pot boil.

    • Whoohoo…luk at jimmy mckinnon, de fella luk loike a leprechaun, tally down de booze loike a loser

      • Anonymous

You are clearly showing how uneducated you are:  Mckinnon is not Irish – it’s Scottish!

This wasn’t a random attack on an innocent resident-it was a fight over drug money.  Maybe I’m sounding callous or don’ t know the whole story, but do community members really have a reason to be this fearful now?

  • Anonymous

These four ‘men’ need to go away for a very, very long time.  I think it is sad that the McKinnon brothers and Gardner were all bailed out by their parents.  So now those three are out walking about waiting for their trial-lovely.  Shame on the enabling parents of these three losers.  My kid would still be sitting in jail until his trial.  Welcome to natural consequences and personal responsibility as an adult.  Shame on the parents for bailing these three simpletons out.
