By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — A local man is was arrested for criminal mischief and criminal trespass on Wednesday evening, and police said he could also be facing burglary charges.

Jeff Hunter, 38, kicked in the door at his ex-girlfriend’s Court Street residence and told police he lived there, Sgt. Paul Edwards said Thursday morning.

While Hunter had previously lived at the residence, Edwards said he doesn’t anymore, and the door had some damage from Hunter’s kicking it down.

Hunter didn’t steal anything from the apartment nor did he injure the woman, the sergeant said, but police took him to jail for criminal mischief and criminal trespass, both Class D misdemeanors.

The case has been sent to the district attorney’s office for review, and Edwards said it’s possible that Hunter could be charged with burglary.

Hunter was booked into the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Thursday.
