Warren names seven finalists for top job

By Stephen Betts, BDN Staff

WARREN, Maine — The Warren selectmen will interview seven candidates next week for the soon-to-be vacant town manager job.

Board Chairman Doug Pope said the board discussed the seven names during a Wednesday night meeting. He provided a list of the names on Thursday.

They include Rep. Wes Richardson, R-Warren, who will be termed out as a state representative at the end of the year. The other six are Warren Hatch, Martin Krauter, Glenn Aho, Justin VanDongen, Ron Grenier and Phillip Parr.

Town Manager Grant Watmough will be retiring on Nov. 26 after 17 years on the job.

Pope said three candidates will be interviewed Wednesday and four candidates on Thursday. He said there is no timeline on when a decision will be made. The board chairman said he expects there will be second interviews with some candidates.

He said the board is looking for someone with municipal management experience but not necessarily someone who has served as a town or city manager.

The interviews will be done in closed sessions, Pope noted.
