PORTLAND, Maine — Five organizations have joined the Maine Health Management Coalition, a nonprofit partnership of stakeholders dedicated to improving the quality and value of health care.

The coalition’s board of directors elected as new members the following organizations: Cary Medical Center in Caribou; Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor; Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland; Insight Health Corporation and Maine Community Health Options, both of Lewiston.

Elizabeth Mitchell, the coalition’s CEO, welcomed the new members, who “bring both geographic and organizational diversity to our membership,” she said. “They have joined the coalition to become active partners in our efforts to improve health care quality and contain costs in Maine.”

The Maine Health Management Coalition was formed in 1993, and now has more than 50 members, including public and private employers, hospitals, health plans, and doctors. It works to measure and report the value of health care, and make that data available so people can make informed health care decisions.
