BANGOR, Maine — The southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Broadway were reopened by 8:30 p.m. Sunday after being shut down about two hours earlier so that Maine State Police could handle an accident that appeared to include injuries, according to information posted on the Maine Department of Transportation’s website.

Maine State Police did not returned a phone call requesting information by 9 p.m.

A dispatcher at the Orono barracks confirmed that an accident had closed the southbound lanes but as of 7 p.m. did not have details. Bangor police blocked the entrance onto the highway from Broadway as of 6:30 p.m.

An alert on the website for the MDOT advised southbound motorists to exit at Broadway to avoid further delays while the accident was cleared.
